The Crown of Sound music festival — which was set to debut June 13 at Westhills Stadium — has been cancelled.

Festival organizers made the announcement in an email to ticketholders outlining future plans for the event, which is expected to be remounted next year.

Crown of Sound was expected to attract upward of 5,000 people to the Langford sports venue next month for performances by Bishop Briggs, Allan Rayman, Jesse Roper and Carmanah. The festival would have been the first of its size in the area since Colwood’s Rock the Shores was discontinued in 2018.

“We are working with artists and city stakeholders to plan for 2021, and during this time of uncertainty we want to do right by you [ticket buyers] by presenting you with an opportunity to keep your ticket in place for next year, or receive a ticket refund,” organizers Keycorp Sports & Entertainment said in a statement.

Ticketholders will have 30 days to request a refund. Those who do not receive a refund will have the ability to use their tickets for the 2021 edition.
