The Capital Regional District Arts Commission has approved $167,320 in funding through four grant programs to benefit 37 not-for-profit arts organizations in Greater Victoria.

The commission announced its list of recipients Tuesday, many of whom will be offering programming at a distance this summer.

“Supporting the arts remains a priority,” CRD Arts Commission chairman Jeremy Loveday said in a release. “The lives of people who work in the arts and culture sector are being greatly impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Based on the data from our recent progress report, we know that our community is better off when we invest in these organizations.”

Sooke Arts Council, Pacific Peoples’ Partnership Association, Victoria Women’s Transition House, Other Guys Theatre Company and William Head on Stage are among the 37 organizations that will benefit from the CRD Arts and Culture Support Service, funding for which is provided by Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Highlands, Metchosin, Sooke and Southern Gulf Islands.
