Colin James has played all manner of stages in Victoria during his 35-year career, from smoky clubs to massive outdoor festivals. But he always seems to be right at home in the Royal Theatre, which is good news for fans attending his concert Wednesday at the Broughton Street theatre.

James, 58, is touring to celebrate his latest recording, Open Road, which earned the Vancouver blues-rocker the eighth Juno Award of his career. He’ll be in excellent shape for the show, having spent 19 dates opening for Buddy Guy during a U.S. tour in March. James is a top-tier live performer, and shows in the market have always been extremely well-received.

The word is apparently out about James’s’ on-stage ability: Only a handful of tickets for Wednesday's performance, which was originally scheduled for March, but delayed due to the pandemic, remain. They can be purchased from the Royal McPherson box office (250-386-6121) or online from rmts.bc.ca. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.
