Carole King musical coming to Victoria

An acclaimed Broadway musical celebrating the life and career of 1970s superstar Carole King is headed to Victoria for a short run at the Royal Theatre next year.

Tickets for Beautiful — The Carole King Musical, which will première Jan. 31 at the Broughton Street theatre, go on sale on Oct. 4 through the Royal Theatre box office.

The five-show engagement wraps on Feb. 2.

The Tony Award-winning production, which is currently on Broadway, will feature a cast and orchestra of 32 actors and musicians, including Kennedy Caughell in the role of King.

Beautiful — The Carole King Musical tells the story of King’s rise to the top of the pop charts and will feature songs written by King and in partnership with her husband, Gerry Goffin, including I Feel the Earth Move, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Some Kind of Wonderful and One Fine Day.

The dates in Victoria are among shows in 105 cities across North America during the 2019-2020 season. The musical is the longest-running show at New York’s Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
