Burton Cummings will arrive on Vancouver Island for a series of shows in May, the first local performances by the Guess Who frontman in four years.

Cummings, 75, will kick off his Island tour at Campbell River’s Tidemark Theatre on May 25. The trek hits the Royal Theatre on May 28, followed by a stop at Nanaimo’s Port Theatre on May 29.

Cummings and his band are playing smaller venues on this run of dates and will perform in an “unplugged” setting, according to to organizers. During his only 2023 concert, in January, Cummings performed a mixture of solo hits, Guess Who favourites, and covers of songs by J.J. Cale, The Kingsmen, and The Equals.

Tickets for his Victoria concert go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. through the Royal Theatre box office (250-386-6121) or rmts.bc.ca.
