B.C. performer advances to top 24 on American Idol

Could his backflips take him to the finish line?

An 18-year old pipeline worker from Kamloops rode his pipes to the top 24 in American Idol Monday night.

Cameron Whitcomb is now one of the Top 24 on this season of American Idol.

On Monday’s show, the teen performed an energetic Bob Dylan cover of "It Ain’t Me Babe" and moved on to the next round.

He finished his song with another one of his signature back flips.

American Idol judge Katy Perry he said might make it to the top on backflips alone.

“He’s gonna win the damn thing with backflips,” Perry said following Whitcomb’s performance.

The next episode of Idol airs on Sunday on CityTV and ABC.
