A pair of blues veterans score nominations at Toronto's Maple Blues Awards

Winners will be announced during a live gala on Jan. 31, 2022

Two blues stalwarts from Vancouver Island — Nanaimo’s David Gogo and Victoria’s David Vest — earned nominations at the 25th Annual Maple Blues Awards on Wednesday.

Gogo made his presence known in several top categories, including entertainer of the year and guitarist of the year. He shared a nomination for acoustic act of the year with Steve Marriner of Monkeyjunk, his recent tour mate. Vest will compete for piano/keyboard player of the year at the event, which is organized each year by the Toronto Blues Society.

Fans can on each major category online at mapleblues.ca. Public voting is open now and closes Dec. 1. The winners will be announced during a live gala on Jan. 31, 2022, which will be held at Koerner Hall in Toronto.
