The owner of a North Delta yoga studio appears to be in hot water again.

Global News reported that Mak Parhar, who owns Bikram Yoga on 120th St., which had its business licence suspended by the City of Delta several weeks ago for failing to comply with COVID-19 health regulations, posted several videos to YouTube denouncing the pandemic.

“Are we going to stand for these blatant lies in the media and the government, calling us names, and trying to suppress the truth?” Parhar says in one video while he is driving his car. “But some of these people, they know what's up. They know the truth. They know it's a hoax. They know it's a drill. They want to keep the sheep in line.”

Other videos show him blatantly ignoring physical-distancing rules in a final meet-up with clients at his yoga studio before it was shut down.

The videos drew the ire of Solicitor General Mike Farnworth, who called Parhar a “narcissistic, self-centred idiot” in a Global interview.

North Delta NDP MLA Ravi Khalon has also been drawn into the situation.

“I think his actions are pathetic. I’m so disappointed,” said Khalon. “People are asking him for refunds and he is now directing all emails to my office, and so he could be doing the right thing and just refund, but now he’s directing people to email their local MLA. It makes no sense. His behavior is quite erratic.”

Khalon said Parhar is putting people’s health at risk.

“Other videos show him sneaking into hospitals and trying to disrupt testing clinics – this is not something a normal, healthy person should be doing, especially during a crisis,” added Khalon. “I’m super concerned. I’m trying my best to communicate to those who are members of his yoga studio who need help, so I will be trying to direct them as best as I can because they are contacting me, but I just don’t know what to do.”
