David Foster, Katharine McPhee put on show from home

Victoria’s David Foster is letting online audiences into his home on a daily basis during the COVID-19 outbreak — albeit safely, via Instagram.

The Grammy Award winner and his wife, Katharine McPhee, took to the social media app this week for a concert from their living room, during which Foster addressed requests from the audience. “We want to take requests for songs, but the thing is, I don’t know how to play any songs [by other people]. We’re new at this.”

To watch the video, viewers first have to follow either Foster (@davidfoster) or McPhee (@katharinefoster) on their personal Instagram pages. Foster said they will try to livestream a concert at 5:30 p.m. each day.

“We decided because we’re all housebound as most of you are — or should be — that we would have a little fun.”

“Because we’re bored,” McPhee added. “But we’re sticking with the program for the greater good.”

The couple performed Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable and Charlie Chaplin’s Smile during their first concert.
