This Burnaby neighbourhood is finally getting a Turkish restaurant

Oh my. PIxabay

I was driving through my northeast Burnaby neighbourhood when I discovered that the really good Greek restaurant that had sadly shut down is being transformed in full Turkish eatery.

It’s called Saray and it’s located on Hastings, just west of Sperling.

When I say “full” I mean that it’s not just a donair joint.

Saray Restaurant will offer a full array of Turkish cuisine I was assured by its manager, who said he hoped to be open next week depending on when all city approvals are finalized.

If you haven’t eaten Turkish food before, it’s delightful. So many rich spices, fresh vegetables and lots and lots of lamb.

One of my favourite Turkish dishes is called Manti, a type of dumpling that has spices and yogurt drizzle over top.

I will keep you posted when Saray finally opens, but it’s a welcome addition to this neighbourhood.
