In Chinese culture, hotpot isn’t just delicious comfort food, it’s also a great way to socialize and spend quality time with family.

Liuyishou, one of China’s most popular hotpot chains, has joined the Feast this year. This international franchise company is going to introduce “authentic” Chongqing-style hotpot to foodies.

Chinese hotpot usually consists of a simmering metal pot with broth placed in the centre of a table with thinly-sliced meat artistically placed beside the metal pot. People can add and cook whatever they like in the broth, according to Rita Ran, director of branding and human resources of Liuyishou International.

“Chongqing-style hotpot is a pork-bone broth with floating ‘beef oil.’

“The broth, a blend of 30 seasonings, is scented with mounds of peppercorns,” said Ran.

For people who avoid spicy food, the mixed mushroom soup and pork ribs and sweetcorn soup are good alternatives. But lots of fans come for the fiery broth.

“Hotpot is good for large groups to share together. Having hotpot can not only warm your body in winter but also boost your mood through chatting with friends,” said Ran, adding that “The friendships can be closer than before after one meal.”

The name of the restaurant is translated as “one-armed Liu” from Mandarin, which is named after the restaurant founder who lost a hand in a car accident.

Instead of complaining about life not being fair, the founder established his own business with the purpose of bringing love and hope to the community.

“We hope to bring this positive attitude to everyone. Even if you are going through a tough time at this moment, please enjoy a hotpot with your friends, and then carry on with your life. Everything will be all right,” said Ran.
