A New Westminster costume designer is part of the creative team for an upcoming Canadian premiere.

Trans Scripts, Part 1: The Women is onstage March 12 to 21 at the Firehall Arts Centre. The award-winning work of documentary theatre is a verbatim piece that was compiled from interviews with more than 70 transgender women in six different countries.

The cast of the Vancouver premiere is made up of seven local transgender women: multidisciplinary East Vancouver artist Josie Boyce; mental health worker Carolynn Dimmer; writer, producer and actor Amy Fox; two-spirit trans recording artist Quanah Napoleon; activist and tech industry consultant Morgane Oger; illustrator, graphic novelist and blogger Sabrina Symington; and YouTube star and Miss International Queen 2019 contestant Julie Vu.

Local resident CS Fergusson-Vaux, who has lived, worked and studied in New West since 2015, is the production’s costume designer.

She has worked on recent projects with The Frank Theatre Company, Vancouver Fringe Festival and Artists Against Racism, and she also works with the Arts Council of New Westminster with a focus on supporting and uplifting LGBTQ+ artists in the community.

The production is a presentation of The Frank Theatre and Zee Zee Theatre. It’s on in preview March 12, with opening night March 13. Shows are taking place at 7:30 p.m. on March 12, 17, 18 and 19, with 8 p.m. shows on March 14, 20 and 21, plus a 3 p.m. matinee on March 15.
