Kajaks Track and Field Club showcased its up-and-coming talent at last month’s B.C. Junior Development Championships in Surrey.
The Richmond-based club brought home 17 medals, along with several top eight finishes and plenty of personal bests.
The contingent was led by 12-year-old Lawrence Man who was a triple gold medalist in his age group with wins in the shot put, discus and hammer. The latter came on a personal best throw.
Here is a complete rundown of the individual highlights:
13-year-old Boys
Monty Mair: high jump (silver).
13-Year-old Girls
Renzey Rozman: 200 metres (7th). Personal bests in 100 metres, 200 metres, shot put.
Kaitlyn Long: 100 metres (personal best).
Rebecca Chen: 200 metres (personal best), long jump (personal best).
Zachary Kennedy: 2,000 metres (4th), 1,200 metres (6th), 800 metres (7th). Personal bests in each race.
Kieran Foster: hammer (silver), discus (fourth), shot put (6th).
12-year-old Boys
Lawrence Man: shot put (gold), discus (gold), hammer (gold).
12-year-old Girls
Charlotte Bosma: high jump (silver), 80 metre hurdles (bronze, personal best).
Emelia Lupynis: discus (silver), shot put (bronze).
Sofia Varma-Vitug: 200 metres (10th, personal best).
Mya Bennett: 100 metres (8th, personal best).
Kayla Spear: long jump (personal best).
Claire Chiang: 300 metres (7th.
11-year-old Boys
Ryan Nickerson: shot put (gold), 60 metres (silver) long jump (silver), discus (silver), 100 metres (bronze, personal best).
Tre Graff: 600 metres (7th), 1000 metres (6th).
10-year-old Boys
Tyler Ly: 100 metres (bronze, personal best), high jump (5th), 100 metres (personal best).
Jonathan Chiang: 100 metres (personal best).
10-year-old Girls
Katie Kennedy: 600 metres (silver, personal best), 1,000 metres (bronze), 60 metre hurdles (8th), long jump (6th, personal best).
Other notable performance in Surrey included Bryan Wai.
