Bob Westfall returns to the New West Artists Gallery for a fundraising concert on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Music lovers can enjoy a concert amidst the art at the New West Artists Gallery.

The gallery is hosting a fundraising concert on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. to help raise funds for the New West Artists’ efforts at the group’s 12th Street premises.

The concert will feature Bob Westfall Moonlight Poet, a travelling singer-songwriter, recording artist and English teacher who’s currently living and performing on the tropical island of Koh Samui, Thailand. Music has taken Westfall across his home country of Canada, through the U.S.A., around South Korea and now into Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia. His music has been compared to that of such artists as Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

He also runs indie label Moonlight Poet Music (www.moonlightpoetmusic.com).

Opening for Westfall will be Bushy Park, an all-woman country band that includes Sophia Kelly, Shannon Ingersol and Cat Mac, performing what’s billed as “sassy and sultry country, bluegrass and blues classics, with a sprinkling of originals, harmony and humour.”

Tickets for the concert are $20. You can pre-purchase at Renaissance Books, at 712B 12th St., or the New West Artists Gallery, at 712C 12th St. You can also book ahead at 604-525-4566.

Doors for the concert will open at 7 p.m.

The gallery is also hosting two other concerts in November, with classical guitarist Matthew Silverman performing on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. (tickets $20) and the vocal group Quayside Voices performing on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. ($25).
