Bowfest is Saturday and still needs more volunteers

With only a day remaining between now and Bowfest (Aug. 24), there are still 23 volunteer spots that need filling. Organizers are asking Boweners to step up.

The annual festival that celebrates all things Bowen starts with a parade at 10:30 a.m. (ish) before moving into Bowfest field at around 11 a.m.

“It is an event for Boweners run by a volunteer board and all profits go back to Bowfest,” says the sponsorship and lip synch organizer Courtney Morris. While she says lip synch has one of the best turnouts yet, volunteering in other festival areas is low. This includes set up Friday evening, traffic control, mini golf, downpour derby, take down and more.

“At one point the only volunteer we had was 10-year-old Hudson Brockmeyer,” says Morris. (More people have since signed up.)
