RCMP copter to land at Junior Mountie Academy

First responders and more to show off their stuff and skills at camp wrap-up in Coquitlam

The RCMP's Air One helicopter is due to land at the wrap-up of the Coquitlam detachment's annual Junior Mountie Academy at Poirier Recreation and Leisure Complex on Friday, Aug. 16.

Coquitlam RCMP’s annual Junior Mountie Police Academy will wrap up on Friday, Aug. 16 with a free show ’n’ shine.

The event, which will run between 9 a.m. and noon at the Poirier Recreation and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.), will feature Air One, the RCMP’s helicopter, landing on the grounds, a police patrol boat, and a mobile command vehicle. Volunteers will also be there to fingerprint children as part of the Child ID program.

The show ’n’ shine will also have interactive displays, and first responders showing off and demonstrating lifesaving equipment and information booths. Along with various RCMP speciality units, other agencies taking part will be Coquitlam Fire, BC Ambulance Service, Coquitlam Search and Rescue and the BC Sheriff Service.
