Coquitlam is looking for volunteer help for its popular Lights at LaFarge holiday display at Town Centre Park in December and January.

Coquitlam would like to see a charge of volunteers to its Lights at Lafarge Light Brigade.

The city is looking for individuals, school groups or businesses to join the brigade to help create new features like its pop bottle tulip lights, to install special displays, take part in light-making workshops or lead the community in singing carols at Jingle Bells Night or for its Park Spark team’s pop-up activities during the Lights at Lafarge season in December and January.

The first workshop will be held at Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way) on Friday (Oct. 18) from 4 to 7 p.m. The others will be: Thursday, Oct. 24, 6 to 8 p.m., at Smiling Creek activity centre (3456 Princeton Ave.), Friday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at on Level 2 at Coquitlam Centre, and Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Inspiration Garden at Guildford Way and Pipeline Road in Town Centre Park during the Fall Garden Fair.

More workshops may be added in November. If so the notifications will be available at coquitlam.ca/parkspark or posted on the city’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram sites. Anyone interested in being a Park Spark host can email parkspark@coquitlam.ca or go online to coquitlam.ca/parkspark for more information.

The display, which features thousand of lights around the 1.2-km lakeside trail at Lafarge Lake in Town Centre Park, will have its kick-off event on Saturday, Nov. 30.
