The Port Coquitlam Sports Alliance is considering options for its annual awards ceremony and hall of fame induction that were scheduled for May 22.

But that date has been felled by the ongoing COvID-19 pandemic.

Ryan Clark, the organization’s executive director, said the gala event at the Terry Fox Theatre could be moved to early summer sometime in the fall.

“All is pending for when city and provincial governments deem it clear again for larger social gatherings,” Clark said in an email.

Meanwhile, the nomination period to recognize the achievements of Port Coquitlam’s top junior and adult athletes, team and coaches, as well as the service of volunteers, officials and community leaders, along with the long-time impact of hall of famers, has been extended to mid-April.

Clark said the selection committee is keeping busy going through the names of prospects submitted so far.
