Cadets on target at provincial biathlon championships

Three cadets from the Tri-Cities have returned home with medals from the provincial cadet biathlon championship held at the Sovereign Lake nordic centre in Vernon, B.C. last weekend.

Three cadets from the Tri-Cities have returned home with medals from the provincial cadet biathlon championship held at the Sovereign Lake nordic centre in Vernon, B.C. last weekend.

Athena Cai, of the 777 Port Coquitlam air cadets, won a silver in the senior female sprint event, while Nicholas Kontanist, of the 754 Port Moody air cadets also won silver in the junior male sprint. Jimin Ryu, of the 808 Coquitlam air cadets won bronze in the youth female sprint event.

The annual competition brings together cadets from programs around the province to test their fitness, skiing, teamwork and marksmanship skills over 4.5 and 6 km courses.

Other cadets from the Tri-Cities who participated in the event include Keita Bodrogi, Bomin Yun, Nestor Lin, Annie Li, Alina Wang and Nathan Cushing.
