The summer time grill is out with ribs cooking and a nice cold beer, but who will take home the bragging rights from these three restaurants this year?

Chefs at 75 West Coast Grill, CAVU Kitchen Bar and Harold’s Bistro & Bar are returning for their 3rd annual BBQ cook-off charity event on Aug. 17.

Attendees will get to enjoy a quarter-rack of ribs along with two side dishes from each of the three restaurants.

Each restaurant is teamed up with a beer vendor where they “pair specific beers with whatever offering each hotel is doing.”

Alex Hancock, executive chef at CAVU, said the chefs wanted to find a “way to showcase the three restaurants that are attached to (their) hotels” on the same block, but they also wanted to “give back to the community at the same time.”

This year, all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Richmond Food Bank Society this year.

“The food bank tends to be overlooked by people and so any funds that we raise we can help kick-start the fall season for them or help get them into a better position than without it,” said Hancock.

Guests can expect entertainment including music, a kid’s zone and a prize draw to go with the delicious ribs.

Tickets can be purchased at the door – $15 for a quarter-rack of ribs from each restaurant and $5 for three beer tasters.

The event will be held at the Marriott and Sheraton Hotel Parking lot located at 7571 Westminster Highway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
