The following letter was sent to Delta North MLA Ravi Khalon, and copied to Delta Optimist.
Dear Ravi:
I am writing because I have a concern that the announcement that the election date of Oct. 24 is not enough time for:
1) Candidates to decide to run and mount a decent campaign. Currently all the incumbents would be favored and even ordinary people can see that this is not very fair.
2) With less than one month to prepare, I feel hard pressed to organize a candidates meeting, and you know that I have been doing this consistently for eight years in Delta.
3) With COVID-19, trying to do anything takes more time and effort.
Therefore, can you please talk to your party and push back the election date till at least early December? I believe this would show that the NDP party can exercise good governance and play fair.
