Kids can put their green thumbs to the test with garden contest

Mayor George Harvie's Garden Contest for Kids is back.

Returning for 2019, children between the ages of 5 and 12, or classrooms from kindergarten through Grade 7, are encouraged to put their green thumbs to the test while staying active outdoors this summer. 

To enter, simply plant a flower or vegetable garden between now and Sept. 23 and take photos documenting its progress.

Top prize is a $100 gift card with a second prize of $75 gift card and a third prize of a $50 gift card all from Delta’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department.

There will also be a yet to be announced prize for a school classroom.

Categories include: flower (age five to 12); vegetable (age five to 12) and school classroom (Kindergarten to Grade 7).

To enter visit delta.ca/gardencontest to see the official contest entry form and submit that form along with date stamped photos via talk@delta.ca or through regular mail to the attention of the Parks, Recreation & Culture c/o Jamie Cessford: City of Delta, 4500 Clarence Taylor Crescent, Delta, BC V4K 3E2.
