Letter: Our Burnaby area needs sidewalks so people don't get killed

Editor: I read about a kid who was run over at 17 Avenue and Humphries Street. I noticed that Humphries is only street in the area without sidewalk. Humphries has more pedestrian and vehicle traffic than any other street in area.

I read about a kid who was run over at 17 Avenue and Humphries Street.
I noticed that Humphries is only street in the area without sidewalk. Humphries has more pedestrian and vehicle traffic than any other street in area.
Edmonds school is close, so is the Edmonds community centre.
I phoned engineering department to ask them if they are planning to put
in a sidewalk and speed bumps.
The lady told me that residents who live on that street have to make request first and to pay a portion, after the city will cover the rest.
I live on 17 Avenue and we had a sidewalk built in the past - we paid our portion.
Humphries is only way we can go to Edmonds community centre.
It is scary walking on Humphries
I would like to see sidewalks and speed bumps around our neighbourhood for
safety reasons.
