An event to celebrate the importance of community and how in the dark winter months we use light as a way to bring people together, Friday, Dec. 7, 5-7:30 p.m. at Parkgate Community Centre. Join the community in this holiday celebration, featuring food and activities for people of all ages including crafts, singing, and of course, the tree lighting! There is also a free shuttle bus service available for seniors. Call 604-983-6350 to book the bus.

Christmas Pottery Sale

More than 20 amazingly talented members of Parkgate Potters Studio will be selling their wares just in time for the holidays, Dec. 7, 5-8:30 p.m., and Dec. 8 and 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There are many beautiful items in a great variety of styles for sale, including mugs and an array of Christmas ornaments.

Breakfast with Santa

Parkgate community centre is hosting Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 8. The morning includes a delicious pancake breakfast, festive entertainment by the Sm:)e Band and a visit with Santa, of course! The event is hosted in partnership with Mount Seymour Lions Club. There are two sittings: 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Cost: $5.50 child/senior and $8.25 adult. Turkey & Trimmings Christmas Lunch

Parkgate will host a delicious traditional Christmas lunch prepared in-house and served by community volunteers, on Dec. 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 for members and $18 for non-members and tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 604-983-6350.

Winter Break Day Camps for Kids

Featuring a variety of activities for kids, Parkgate’s winter break camps run from Dec. 24 to Jan. 4, with daily or full week options. More detailed information is available at myparkgate.com/child-family/daycamps/overview.

MyParkgate Break ReOpens

Registration is now open for My Parkgate Break – a community dementia day program. My Parkgate Break is a gathering place for individuals experiencing the changes associated with early to moderate dementia. The twice weekly program is supported by staff and trained community volunteers who share in the value that we can do more together than apart. My Parkgate Break provides low-cost creative care in the form of fellowship, fitness, leisure and social activities, with a mission to support and enhance the lives of all who participate.
