Port Moody’s Christian Lowe scored the winning goal with just 1:17 left in the third period to give his Vancouver North East Chiefs a 4-3 win over the North Island Silvertips in their  B.C. Major Midget Hockey League game, last Saturday at Burnaby 8-Rinks.

Lowe’s winner capped a see-saw game in which the Chiefs, comprised of players from the Tri-Cities, Burnaby, New Westminster and Maple Ridge, battled back from a 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead then squandered their advantage. Daniel Juca, Dylan Smail and Tanner Terness scored the Chiefs’ other goals.

Sunday, the Chiefs also defeated the visiting Silvertips, 8-3.

The wins improve the Chiefs’ early-season record to 2-2, tied for fourth place in the league standings with the South Island Royals. They host the Thompson Blazers this Saturday and Sunday at Burnaby 8-Rinks.
