The drive for a bye into the Great Northwest Athletic Conference post-season hit a bit of a speed bump for the Simon Fraser University women’s basketball team Thursday.

The Clan lost, 83-74, to the Central Washington University Wildcats at the West gym on Burnaby Mountain.

Port Coquitlam’s Ozioma Nwabuko had six points and Coquitlam’s Kendal Sands scored four points in the losing effort.

The loss leaves the 11-4 Clan in third place in the conference standings. The University of Alaska Anchorage and Northwest Nazarene have already clinched playoff positions.

SFU hosts Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, 7 p.m., at the West gym.

The men’s team, meanwhile, heads to Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR., for a game against the Wolves on Saturday.

The Clan is coming off a 79-56 win over Concordia University, Thursday in Portland, OR.

Dr. Charles Best grad Graham Miller scored two points in 10 minutes of court time. He also pulled down one rebound.
