The Editor,

Re. "Highrise proposed for Coquitlam's Maillardville" (tricitynews.com, Dec. 1).

Welcome to Coquitlam — and another highrise.

Where are the people we elected to ask staff a simple question? How soon will a start be made to change the traffic design and flow of the current traffic disaster at this intersection of the Lougheed Highway, Brunette Avenue and Blue Mountain Street? Will the start to this new mammoth undertaking be before or after all this density?

While I am ranting, when will Coquitlam and Burnaby deal with a similar problem at the intersection of North Road and Lougheed? This traffic nightmare is already waiting for more skyscrapers.

I asked, on a public questionnaire sent by the city, but all I got back was the new design for the major improvement at the foot of Blue Mountain.

To deal with these concerns, please, Coquitlam city councillors, start asking good, strong questions of your staff.

Brian Robinson, Coquitlam
