Five Tri-City actors are performing in the Gateway Theatre production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which opens Thursday in Richmond.

And for Port Moody dancer Nicol Spinola, it will be her first time choreographing for the company.

Spinola, an instructor at the Lindbjerg Academy of Performing Arts and the Tri-City Dance Centre in Coquitlam, said creating the steps for the show was a challenge as it is sung through — that is, there are no breaks for scene work. “It’s continuous music,” she said, “so there’s a lot of movement.”

The Tri-City members of the cast are: Nathan Piasecki (Asher/ensemble); Julia MacLean (Benjamin/ensemble); Jocelyn Tsui (Gad/ensemble); Krista Skwarok (butler/ensemble); and Timothy Liu, a Lindbjerg student who takes on the role of Kid.
