Workplace culture is the theme of the Tri-Cities Newcomer Employment Week in Coquitlam that begins Monday.

The event, which runs Nov. 18 to 22, helps immigrants learn about the Canadian labour market and connects them to jobs and services. It will focus on the importance of workplace culture in recruiting and retaining employees.

Local employers across the Tri-Cities will be holding workplace tours for newcomer jobseekers to learn more about their organizations.

It will kick off at the City Centre branch of the Coquitlam Public Library (1169 Pinetree Way) Monday at 10 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Maylen Crespo, who immigrated to Canada in 2002 and now is the community lead manager for Family Services of Greater Vancouver.

The week is a collaboration of several business, institutional, local government and non-profit organizations.
