Organized competition still on hold though

Coquitlam's sports fields, like the ones at Town Centre Park, are open again to organized groups with a COVID-19 safety plan in place. But competitive games are still a ways off.

Sports fields and courts in Coquitlam are open again. But there won’t be organized, competitive games just yet.

User groups with safety plans that ensure physical distancing, limit touch points, promote frequent hand washing and discourage the attendance of anyone with symptoms can use their allocated fields again. Informal use by small groups and families can also continue when a field or sports court isn’t occupied by another user group.

The fields had been closed to use by organized groups since March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Monday, Port Coquitlam also reopened its sports fields, but the facilities must be booked in advance and the sports organization also has to have a sport-specific COVID-19 safety plan in place.
