Richmond's Great Little Box Company (GLBC), an award-winning manufacturer in label and packaging solutions, is not as “little” anymore as it announced its acquisition of Ideon Packaging – also a manufacturer and distributor of packaging solutions.

“GLBC was very familiar with Ideon and felt that bringing the two companies together would be a great fit and enable us to compete in more markets and offer additional products,” said Natisha Matthews, spokesperson at GLBC.

Talks of the collaboration began late last year when the owners of Ideon decided to retire.

When asked if COVID-19 was the reason of the two companies joining together, Matthews said the pandemic came in during the middle of the “legalities,” but it was neither the reason for Ideon to sell nor the reason for GLBC to purchase the company.

The joining of the two companies aims create a stronger future for the businesses and will prioritize job security, innovation, people and culture during the upcoming months.

Rick Van Poele, CEO of Ideon Packaging, said that Ideon’s team “will be in great hands to continue to thrive” under GLBC.

“GLBC has always put their people and customer experience at the forefront of their business, and they continuously demonstrate that a focus on culture and community will lead to success. They ensure their customers are delivered an incredible experience through innovative packing solutions.”
