Dear Editor,

What began as a 'crazy' idea about a year ago, sitting on the ferry chatting to some friends and wondering aloud about the sanity of bringing the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival films to Bowen, took off this spring and became something that many of us shared last Saturday night.

It was a wonderful gathering of community, and despite the numerous events on the island that night (including the Canucks game!) the turn out was incredibly rewarding, which indicates that maybe it wasn't such a crazy idea!

Thank you for coming. Thank you for shopping at the auction! Thank you for enjoying the food and drinks. We hope you found the films fun and inspirational. We would like to do this again and would love your input on how we can improve on it. If you would like, please go to this small survey (http://goo.gl/forms/L750NAkpHo) to give us any feedback you feel you can offer.

The funds raised on Saturday will be used to purchase communal gear for the outside45 students' use. The students enjoyed hosting this event and also wish to thank you for supporting their endeavours. Thanks also go to the creative energy and drive of the hard-working volunteer parents and outside45 staff as well as our generous sponsors we mentioned last week. Additionally we would like to thank Zen Climb in Squamish, ChariTree Foundation, Ethical Flowers on the Pier, Surf Promotional, Sea to Sky Gondola, and our own Bowen Island Pub for their well received donations to the auction.

We hope to see you for another film festival movie night next spring!

Jud Berry and the BICS outside45 VIMFF team
