Richmond caps unbeaten five game run with win over Ridge Meadows in Sunday's title game

The Richmond A1 Jets are champions of South Delta Minor Hockey’s Storm Pee Wee A1 Winter Showcase.

The Jets capped perfect five game run at the eight-team tournament with a 4-2 victory over Ridge Meadows A1 in Sunday’s championship game at the Ladner Leisure Centre.

Earlier in the day, Richmond got past Burnaby Winter Club A3 in the semi-finals.

Round-robin wins over Tri-Cities (8-2), South Okanagan A3 (9-5) and the host A1 Storm (3-2) earned the Jets first place in their round-robin group.

Ridge Meadows also entered the final with a perfect record.

The Jets are coached by long-time former Seafair Minor coach Steve Robinson who was in familiar territory as head coach and GM of the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s Delta Ice Hawks that play out of the LLC.

Robinson is back to double duty behind the bench after a one year hiatus. He guided Seafair’s Bantam A1 team to the provincial and Western Canada titles in 2018.

The Jets roster features: Goalies- Dylan Karan and Sahil Aulakh. Defencemen- Evan Markel, Ryan Kump, Josh Mantle, Steven Yan, Josh Deamer and Jacob Broderick. Forwards- Ryan Lin, Keeghan Dunn, Max Shin, Evan Jeske, Ty Bonkowski, Miles McCaracken, Kade Lee, Imaan Atwal, Nicholas Kovich and Copper Swanson.
