Burnaby RCMP is investigating after shots were fired in the 7300-block of 14th Avenue just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
Police were called to the scene at 4:50 a.m. and have since determined that “a number of shots” were fired, including some that hit a vehicle. Despite the number of shots, no one is believed to have been injured, police said.
Investigators believe the incident was isolated with nothing to indicate a risk to the public, RCMP said in a news release.
The 7300-block of 14th Avenue runs along Ernie Winch Park in a mostly residential neighbourhood just a few blocks away from the border to New Westminster.
The incident is still under investigation, with police not releasing any more information at this point.
This is the second Burnaby shooting in the past seven days. On Aug. 15, Burnaby RCMP received reports at 4:16 a.m. of shots fired in the area of Keith Avenue and Ivy Street. Responding officers found a 25-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
