A pair of Richmond soccer standouts have seen their seasons cut short by significant injuries at the University of Nebraska.

For striker Natalie Cook, the 2019 campaign never really got started after tearing her ACL during a training session in mid-August. The Richmond High grad had successful surgery a couple of weeks later and will soon begin the long rehabilitation process. She was projected to be in the starting 11 and instead she ended up red-shirting her junior season.

Sophomore Dakota Chan was thriving in coach John Walker’s 4-3-3 formation as an attacking player, leading the Cornhuskers in scoring. That was until suffering a stress fracture in her right shin and subsequently being shut down for the season.

An injury also cost the McMath graduate the final five games of her freshman campaign.

Both girls came through the TSS Elite Girls Program to earn their scholarships to the NCAA Division One program.
