Richmond blueliner Trey Taylor is among the NHL Central Scouting’s Players to Watch List for the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

The 17-year-old member of the B.C. Hockey League’s Vernon Vipers has been given a “C” rating which makes him a candidate to go between the fourth and sixth rounds at next June’s proceedings in Montreal.

Taylor came through Seafair Minor and was a member of a powerhouse Pee Wee A1 squad that also included Lukas Svejkovsky, who now plays for the Vancouver Giants. He also has been given a “C” status for the 2020 Entry Draft.

Taylor then spent one season with the Delta Hockey Academy before making the jump to the BCHL last year with Vernon, appearing in 53 games and producing 13 points. He was named one of the team’s assistant captains this season.

His older brother Ty starred in net for the Vipers — earning BCHL goalie of the year honours and also was selected in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. He is now in his sophomore season at the University of New Hampshire.
