The smell of fresh produce and much-loved garlic is returning for the big Richmond festival.

Richmond’s Garlic Festival celebrates its 11th year at the Sharing Farm in Terra Nova Rural Park on Aug. 18.

“The Garlic Festival is a community favourite in Richmond,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

“Not only does it showcase one of Richmond’s finest parks, it also serves to support The Sharing Farm Society’s incredible work in providing local produce for low-income families in our community.”

Fresh and delicious dishes featuring The Sharing Farm’s produce and garlic can be purchased at the festival along with their unique garlic ice cream, which is produced in collaboration with Earnest Ice Cream.

Other festivities include live music, a huge selection of fresh produce for purchase from The Sharing Farm, a garlic growing workshop, a children’s area with family-friendly activities and free bike tune-ups.

A returning feature to the festival, for the second year, is the birds of prey demonstrations with expert bird handlers there to educate and entertain the crowd.

Festival admission is by donation and is open to all ages.

There is limited parking, but a guarded bike valet service is available for this event.
