A vehicle travelling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 caused a multi-vehicle pileup Thursday night in South Surrey.

Surrey RCMP received numerous 911 calls about 9:30 p.m. as the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic.

The resulting collision closed the southbound lanes for several hours, but Staff Sgt. Duane Honeyman says in a press release that all injuries luckily appeared to be minor in nature.

Traffic was diverted off the highway at the King George Boulevard-Crescent Road exit.

Police say the highway reopened as of 1 a.m.

Investigators are seeking witnesses to the crash or who observed the vehicle prior to the collision, as well as anyone who may have dash-cam video of the collision.
