Richmond Rockets Roanan Tien-Vidal dominated his division at the opening BC Cup competition in Prince George last month. The second stop takes place on Saturday at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Richmond Rockets are looking forward to home ice advantage when the B.C. Cup #2 short track speed skating competition takes place on Saturday at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The club is coming off some impressive performances at last month’s BC Cup #1 event in Prince George.

Roanan Tien-Vidal placed first in all five races  — including qualifying and finals — while setting two personal bests.

He joined Ryan Bolton and Wilfred Chan as aggregate winners for their respective divisions.

They are part of the Oval’s High Performance Speed Skating Program for advanced skaters, along with Daniel Liu. They train under Provincial team coach Nicole Garrido and Chris Poljer-So.

Also making the trek to Prince George were Aaron Liu and Stephen Lim who train with Rockets coach Nathalie Stewart.

The BC Cup #2 competition features races from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will also be a BC Speed Skating Academy on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
