Elderly Richmond resident dies after vehicle strikes pole

An 83-year-old Richmond man is dead following a car crash yesterday afternoon. Shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Richmond RCMP responded to reports of a single vehicle collision near No. 4 Road and Tomicki Avenue, just north of Alderbridge Way.

An 83-year-old Richmond man is dead following a car crash yesterday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Richmond RCMP responded to reports of a single vehicle collision near No. 4 Road and Tomicki Avenue, just north of Alderbridge Way.

A 2000-era Cadillac sedan sustained “catastrophic damage” after colliding with a hydro pole, according to RCMP.

The victim, who was driving the vehicle and was its sole occupant, was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The RCMP’s criminal investigation team (CCIT) has taken over the investigation.
