Richmond library card-holders can get into the PNE for only $6 on Aug. 21.

This is the third year that Richmond Public Library has joined libraries across the Lower Mainland in Library Day, an event run through a partnership between Vancouver’s Fair at the PNE and Public Library InterLINK.

During Library Day, teens and adults who hold a valid library card can get a $9 discount on their PNE entry (a general gate pass normally costs $16 for anyone aged 14 to 64).

Event-goers can look out for the Library Zone, located near Toon City and the Snap Happy areas at the PNE, which are near the Pacific Coliseum.

The Library Zone will host a wide-range of free, family-friendly activities, including a maker’s space, interactive games and green screen, arts and crafts, said Ariana Galeano, head of community branch services at the Richmond Public Library.

There will also be a quiet zone with books to explore, allowing fair-goers to get a break from the heat and crowds, said Galeano.

If you’re interested in attending Library Day but don’t currently have a library card, you can drop by any of Richmond Public Library’s four branches before Aug. 21 to register for a free card. Each person attending Library Day must have their own library card.

PNE Fair is free for children under 5, and for kids aged 6 to 13, fair entry costs just $5.
