Richmondites will be able to work out at three city fitness centres starting Monday.

Seventy-five-minute sessions can be booked at South Arm and Thompson community centres and at the Minoru Centre for Active Living – registration starts Wednesday morning (Aug. 12) at 10 a.m. for next week, but, after that, registration will begin every Monday for the following week.

There will be no drop-in sessions.

All city facilities closed in March due to the pandemic, but playgrounds and outdoor courts were brought back online in June.

Those registered for a fitness-centre session need to arrive five minutes in advance and should only bring essentials like wallet, keys, phone, towel and water bottle – lockers are available and no bags are allowed in the fitness centre area.

Those working out need to wipe down equipment before and after – disinfectant will be provided.

Anyone with a MyRichmond account can register online at richmond.ca/register. To set up an account, go to myrichmond.richmond.ca.

Registrations can also be done by calling the Registration Call Centre at 604-276-4300. Recreation Access Card holders and recreation fee subsidy users must call the Registration Call Centre to book an exercise session.

Other updates on the city’s Restoring Richmond Plan can be found at richmond.ca/covid19 and on social media.
