If you have old bills, paperwork and receipts that you need to get rid of safely, here comes the solution.
A shredding event is coming up in late August to help Richmondites not only to get rid of sensitive documents, but also make sports more affordable for kids.
The shredding event, hosted by Richmond not-for-profit athletics organization Kajaks, will take place on Aug 23 to raise money to keep the program fees affordable.
Therefore, kids who are willing to compete in different aspects of track and fields can stay active while having fun, according to Dereck Hamada, president of Kajaks.
With the COVID-19 pandemic limiting social gatherings, local fundraisers and clubs need to find other ways to fundraise for necessary services in the local community.
“Normally our club holds two major events: the 8k run and BC elementary track and field championships. Those events usually contribute a significant amount of funds to help keep our fees reasonable for kids and our athletes,” added Hamada.
“But we don’t have those revenue sources right now. We have to try to fundraise in different ways.”
The shredding event will run Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3631 Chatham St., with a minimum donation is $20 per person.
