The Richmond Public Library (RPL) will be opening up the registration for their annual Summer Reading programs virtually on Wednesday.
“Summer Reading at RPL will provide Richmond residents of all ages with opportunities to have fun learning and connecting with others in their community, while experiencing the joy of reading,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.
There are a wide variety of free programs and reading activities for all ages.
Kids participating in this year’s BC Summer Reading Club will be focusing on the theme “Explore Our Universe.” Parents are encouraged to register their kids online to record their weekly reading progress in order to earn virtual badges.
The Teen Summer Reading Club will involve writing and posting book reviews on the library’s blog as well as enter a design contest for a chance to win great book prizes.
Adults, seniors and teens are also invited to join the library’s second One Book, Three Cities community reading project in partnership with the city’s Sister City Advisory Committee.
The book choice of the year for the project is Dear Life, a collection of short stories by Canadian author Alice Munro.
