Christmas events arrives in Steveston Village

Steveston Village is hosting many free or low-cost activities for the public to enjoy and get into the holiday spirit from now until Dec. 31.

Shop site-wide from close to 60 unique vendors set up in the Seine Net Loft, Murakami Boatworks, Richmond Boatbuilders and Chinese Bunkhouse buildings at the Britannia Shipyards Heritage Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Steveston Village is hosting many free or low-cost activities for the public to enjoy and get into the holiday spirit from now until Dec. 31.

The whole village will be decorated with Christmas light installations while the Steveston Museum’s Town Square Park will have interactive dancing lights for families to enjoy.

All light installations including ones in front of the Steveston Tram at No. 1 Road and Bayview Street and ones along the imperial boardwalk can be seen daily from 3 to 9 p.m.

Local businesses in Steveston will be participating in a Winter Window Contest where visitors can vote for their favourite display at the Steveston Museum or the Steveston Tram.

Other family-friendly events throughout the festive holidays include writing letters to Santa, scavenger hunts and ornament making at various historic sites.

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery will be decorated for the Festival of Trees event; meanwhile, Britannia Shipyards will be hosting their third annual Christmas craft fair on Dec. 7.

Talk around the village is saying Santa will be making various visits throughout the month of December as well.
