The Steveston Merchants Association is hosting their 7th annual Christmas classic and custom car cruise on Dec. 1.

Each year, car enthusiasts cruise through the streets of Steveston to raise funds for the Richmond Christmas Fund, provide information for next year’s “Sockeye Run” car show, as well as showcasing various shops in the village for Christmas gifts and treats.

Car registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and participants are asked to park their vehicles in the lots by the Gulf of Georgia Cannery and behind the Steveston Hotel and Buck & Ear Bar & Grill – end of Moncton Street and Third Avenue.

The 15-minute cruise will start at 12:15 p.m. and finish at the west end of the village where cars will be on display until 2:30 p.m.

Donations are encouraged in the form of a $100 cheque, prizes or toys, which will be donated to the Richmond Christmas Fund.

Santa will also arrive at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery by boat to celebrate other events in the village like Christmas tree displays and the Cannery Farmer’s Market that day.

Pre-registration for the cruise is required by email at christmascruise@sockeyerun.com
