Ethan Troniak works his way towards the end zone in South Delta's 30-6 win over the Handsworth Royals on Saturday at Dennison Park.

No one would blame the South Delta Sun Devils football program for making Dennison Park its permanent home.

The dominance continued at the community park across the street from South Delta Secondary with a 30-6 win over the Handsworth Royals on Saturday. The senior and junior varsity teams are now a combined 6-0 at Dennison this season. The last time the field was required was back in 2014 that also produced a perfect record.

The No. 2 ranked Devils did have their hands full with a feisty Royals team that hung around until the offence finally got on track to produce the final 22 points of the game.

Quarterback Ben McDonald fired a pair of touchdown passes to his favourite red zone target — Evan Paterson — from 14 yards out on each occasion and also hit Ethan Troniak for a 42-yard major. He capped the scoring himself on a one-yard keeper in the fourth quarter.

Cailean Oulette, Damon Bordenhurst and Troniak added two-point converts.

The Sun Devils now hit the road for three of their final four Western AAA Conference games, starting Friday (5 p.m.) in Burnaby against the Notre Dame Jugglers. The East Vancouver Catholic school will be in an ornery mood after dropping two straight conference games,, including a 34-0 drubbing by the previously winless Mt. Doug Rams on Friday in the provincial capital.

End Zone…

The JV Sun Devils opened Coastal Conference play and improved to 5-0-0 overall with a 39-25 win over Carson Graham in North Vancouver. Handsworth visits Dennison on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
