The Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCH Foundation) invites its supporters to leave the heavy clubs behind for this year’s Century Group Delta Health Golfless Classic.

Due to restrictions on large gatherings amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual golf tournament has moved online for its 22nd year.

The online event, which runs from Thursday, September 10, 2020 to Thursday, September 17, 2020, will raise funds for a new service and piece of equipment for Delta Hospital — an echo ultrasound.

“We could have made the tough decision to cancel the fundraiser altogether, but as the need for an echo ultrasound is a major priority that makes the need for our second largest fundraiser of the year even more important,” says Lisa Hoglund, executive director of DHCH Foundation.

This year’s Century Group Delta Health Golfless Classic will include an online auction, 50/50 lottery, contests, and an opportunity to make a charitable donation. The online event will hopefully raise the remaining money needed to purchase the $300,000 echo ultrasound.

This brand-new service is one of the most important diagnostic tools to be added to Delta Hospital in the last 10 years and will transform the way the hospital cares for its cardiac patients, to allow them to receive the best care while remaining in their own community.

The Peter C. and Elizabeth Toigo Diagnostic Services Building will house the echo ultrasound. It is a valuable addition to the medical imaging and laboratory departments because, Delta’s growing senior patient population is one of the oldest in Fraser Health. As a result, Delta Hospital’s medical professionals are treating more complex cases. The Echo will help equip our staff with the tools they need so our patients can lead a long and healthy life.

The foundation is dedicated to ensuring the Delta Hospital staff are well-equipped with the right tools to perform life-saving care, working hard to raise funds for the hospital’s current health concerns as well as for the future of healthcare in the community.

“We are so grateful to Century Group for their generous decision to remain as our title sponsor, fully supporting this new format. We couldn’t do it without them. We have received an outpouring of support from our community during these last few months and makes us hopeful that our other long-standing sponsors remain on board and additional sponsors join in on supporting this important fundraiser for Delta Hospital,” Hoglund says.

Century Group has a long history of supporting the Delta community through golf.

“Our hospital needs our support more than ever during this pandemic and we are proud to support this innovative and important fundraiser during this challenging time. We hope others can do the same,” says Sean Hodgins, president of Century Group.
