Premier congratulated for delaying Fraser River crossing

In regards to the tunnel/bridge project letters, I, as a non-NDP voter, would like to congratulate Premier John Horgan on delaying this project.

Just imagine the traffic jam at the Oak Street and Knight Street bridges trying to accommodate six, eight or 10 lanes of tunnel/bridge traffic.

Our traffic problem is the result of an uncontrolled population growth permitted by our greedy federal politicians and as a result our city is being raped by developers who only have one thing on their mind and that is huge profits.

To solve our unfortunate traffic situation requires an entire Greater Vancouver overhaul, which I frankly believe is impossible because we missed the boat a long time ago.

We must be the only world city without major highways going through it. Our highways consists of Granville and Oak streets littered with traffic lights every two blocks to accommodate pedestrians who are too lazy to walk four block to go to a coffee shop.

In addition, curb parking is permitted after 8.30 a.m. Go figure.

Same unfortunate situation exists with our rapid transit system. It basically consists of three lines and anybody unfortunate enough to live blocks away from them is required to take the bus or car.

Every other world city has trains reachable like a spider web, making them easy to use and desirable.

Our politicians need to give their heads a shake if they want to come across as being a world class city as they always like to brag about.
