I have called Ladner home for over 45 years. Last Friday, I found out that my hometown was on the TV news the night before.

I live as close to the heart of the village as you can get – 48th Avenue and Delta Street. My neighbourhood is always informed when filming will be happening.

I watched the filming of Supernatural on July 31 and I counted over 40 crew members. I am pretty sure there were another 40 or more crew members I couldn’t see. I know that while crew members were in Ladner, they bought stuff from our local businesses.

If you watched the TV news on Aug. 1, you also found out that local businesses are financially compensated for any disruptions that may occur during filming. Since businesses know ahead of time if filming will affect them and they may be financially compensated, closing down during filming is always an option.

I wouldn’t be surprised if filming in Ladner decreases in the future because there are other towns in the Lower Mainland that have old houses, tree-lined streets, waterfront promenades and friendly business owners.

I hope I am wrong because as a fan, I enjoy watching the process, talking to the crew and getting pictures of stars like Johnny Depp.
